perky Smoky Mountains,
who winks and waves her Chesapeake Bay.
who sashays her abundant wild life,
or Arizona who is quick to smile her sexy
each state has her assets that
convince me to stray.
takes me by the hand and begs me to stay.
She touches me with memories of warm childhood days,
and starry adolescent nights;
kisses me with Hoosier pride;
She hugs me close with family and friends, gives me
glimpse of what I would miss —
then she serenades me with sounds
of her brilliant Cardinals,
reminds me of her gorgeous dogwoods
in full bloom,
gives me a whiff of her best
fragrance – fresh lilacs in the spring,
and I feel myself swoon for her all
