State Route 148

                   Roger Singer

Waving everyday

At me as I pass

Like a friend

Mowing or raking leaves

A state route

148 sign

Stands solid with

Direction.

My path skirts

Me up quickly

Like wind

Caught in sails

Past the road

Curving away

From where

I’m going.

Next time

When time

Speaks

Affordably to me

I’ll turn

With discovery

Caught in my throat

Like voyagers

Into new lands

I’ll go,

Maybe.
