My little brother
is asleep on the couch.
My brother with the
round marshmallow face
who is short for
his age and wants to be a pilot.
Who carries around
a yellow GPS.
The one who always
wants a backrub.
My little brother’s
child will one day look up at him
from his bed that
smells like M&M’s and toothpaste
and tell him
he is afraid of the
dark.
My brother will
say,
I know.
