The Sons of Israel

Benjamin C. Krause

On his way to meet Esau,
fearing death for the first time,
Jacob found himself in a fight
with some sort of celestial being.
When he bested the holy beast,

he asked him for a blessing.

The angel named him Israel.

So Israel went to Canaan
but did not get along with the others.

The sons of Israel slaughtered Shechem

in the name of honor.

Time passed and Rachel died in labor;
more time passed and Labor lost to Likud,
and the sons of Israel slew Rabin,
selling their brother to a butcher.
