milk bottle

Moa Mauthe

he puts the milk bottle in the creek

(water on the verge of freezing)

his smoking has become sophisticated

the white clouds dancing, halting, evaporating

school will have to wait

he puts the creek in his mind for safe keeping

the school house chimney beckons him

(promises warmth and all that is familiar)

he turns and walks the other way

the white clouds dancing, halting, evaporating

Moa Mauthe lives in Sweden and has a Master's degree in English.    Her poetry is forthcoming  in Decanto and Breadcrumb Scab.
