I am walking slowly in a
blizzard,
slowly,
as if snow were falling,
slowly,
as if it were quiet
in the mutedly disquieting way
I remember blizzards being. I am drifting
out of reach, drifting
beyond success, drifting
into the hinterland
of failure, into the calm and quieting hinterland
of failure.
