Percolation
Put the needle through the rock.
Curve the wavering eye
and send it swift and sharp.
A drop of water
courses from the Yangtze to us
as an echo of China in our cup.
We drink water
from the Volga or Ganges.
A cloud on my belief of purity.
It shudders your sensibilities,
you say I’m wrong,
yet water from your chlorine pool
slides down my throat with coffee.
Wynne McClure's latest publication, My Lonely Luxury, is an illustrated
collection of thoughts in three line poetic form, issued in May, 2008. Her
previous publications, The Hidden Self and Torn For Peace with
Paul Bither, were printed by FootHills Publishing. She often collaborates with
the arts, recently as a featured reader for The Eastman School of Music's
Spring Festival in Rochester, New York, and has been included in many
anthologies.
