William
Carlos Williams, in retrospect
Kristine Ong Muslim
I have missed
this: the upturned trough
where the white
chickens bend down
to drink. All the
mythical elements
blend at some
point. Art books sum it up
with the laws of
perspective. The red
wheel barrow is
smeared with cow dung.
It is drought
season, and the cows
graze what is left
of the grass.
Kristine Ong Muslim has
published more than 700 poems in over 300 publications worldwide, such as Bellevue Literary Review, Narrative Magazine, and The Pedestal Magazine. She has been nominated three times for the
Pushcart Prize and has received several honorable mentions in Year’s Best in
Fantasy and Horror. Kristine lives in
The Philippines.
