Fog hour, the rowboat steers
into cottony smoke, we rest
calmly, shipping the oars, waiting
for the empty thrill of words.
A halo. The lake breathes like
a sigh. Nobody speaks and
speaks again. We carry gentle
silence, all we'll ever need.
